Buccaneers Signing LB Daryl Smith To A One-Year Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers are signingย former Ravens LB Daryl Smith to a contract Thursday.

  • According to Greg Auman,ย Smith receives a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million.
  • The agreement includes $2 million guaranteed, a $1.35 million base salary, a $650,000 bonus, and $31,000 per game roster bonuses.

Tampa Bay recently brought Smith in a for visit, which was the first reported interest in him sinceย the free agent market opened over a week ago.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Smithย to a contract won’tย factor into theย Buccaneers’ย 2017 compensatory picks.

Smith, 33, was in the third year of hisย four-year, $13.6 million contract andย was set to make a base salaryย ofย $3 million in 2016 when he was released in a move that freedย up $2.625 millionย in available cap space for the Ravens.

In 2015,ย Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 121 tackles, three sacks, an interception and three pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 71 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We hadย him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
