Buccaneers Signing LB Daryl Smith To A One-Year Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers are signing former Ravens LB Daryl Smith to a contract Thursday.

  • According to Greg Auman, Smith receives a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million.
  • The agreement includes $2 million guaranteed, a $1.35 million base salary, a $650,000 bonus, and $31,000 per game roster bonuses.

Tampa Bay recently brought Smith in a for visit, which was the first reported interest in him since the free agent market opened over a week ago.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Smith to a contract won’t factor into the Buccaneers’ 2017 compensatory picks.

Smith, 33, was in the third year of his four-year, $13.6 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $3 million in 2016 when he was released in a move that freed up $2.625 million in available cap space for the Ravens.

In 2015, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 121 tackles, three sacks, an interception and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 71 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
