Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers are waiving WR/KR Jaydon Mickens on Monday.
Greg Auman adds that the Buccaneers are also promoted RB/KR Kenjon Barner to their active roster.
Mickens, 26, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in 2016. He was waived at the start of the season and spent his rookie year on their practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract in 2017.
The Raiders waived him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and later signed with the Jaguars. The Buccaneers added him to their practice squad and eventually promoted him to the active roster last December.
The Bucs waived Mickens this summer before re-signing him soon after.
In 2020, Mickens has appeared in nine games for the Buccaneers and caught seven passes for 58 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He has also totaled 289 kick return yards and 99 punt return yards.
Barner, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Carolina before he was traded to the Eagles in return for a conditional seventh-round pick that did not meet the qualifications.
From there, Barner played for a few teams including the Chargers, Panthers and Patriots. The Falcons signed him to a one-year contract last year.
Barner signed with the Ravens in August after visiting with them but was among their final roster cuts coming out of training camp. He later signed on to the Buccaneers’ practice squad and has been on and off of their active roster.
In 2020, Barner has appeared in two games for the Buccaneers and has totaled 57 kick return yards and 19 punt return yards.
