The Cardinals announced on Monday they have signed seven players to futures deals. The list includes:
- P Ryan Winslow
- WR Johnnie Dixon
- DL Lyndon Johnson
- OL Sam Jones
- WR A.J. Richardson
- CB Sojourn Shelton
- CB Duke Thomas
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Winslow, 25, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in May of last year. He was among Chicago’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason of 2018.
He signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals back in May but was cut, once again, following the preseason. Arizona re-signed Winslow to their practice squad a few weeks later, briefly promoting him to the active roster before waiving him again.
In 2019, Winslow appeared in two games for the Cardinals and punted six times with a 48.5-yard average, one touchback and two kicks inside the 20.
Johnson, 25, was signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati in 2018. He was unfortunately released at the end of the preseason during final roster cuts.
Johnson caught on with the Jaguars’ practice squad and was signed to the active roster late in the season. He returned to Jacksonville in July but was waived at the start of the regular season.
Since then, Johnson has been on and off of the Colts’ practice squad.
In 2018, Johnson appeared in three games and recorded two total tackles, one tackle for loss and no sacks.
