Chiefs Designate DE Alex Okafor To Return From Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs officially designated DE Alex Okafor to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.

This opens a three-week window of time for the Chiefs to activate him from injured reserve and add him to their 53-man roster.

Okafor, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. He played out the final year of his rookie contract when he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Saints in 2017.

Unfortunately, Okafor suffered a season-ending Achilles tear before eventually agreeing to a two-year deal worth up $10 million with the Saints. He signed with the Chiefs in 2019 to a three-year, $24 million deal after declining his player option in New Orleans.

In 2020, Okafor has appeared in four games for the Chiefs and recorded six tackles and a half-sack.
