Ian Rapoport reports that the Chiefs have released veteran S Robert Golden after the safety requested to be cut from the team.
Golden’s agent, Jordan Woy, said his client did not feel like he was getting the “opportunity to contribute” the way he wanted to when signing with Kansas City in April.
“Heโs hoping to catch on with another team soon,โ Woy said.
Golden, 27, wound up signing on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before signing a three-year, $5 million contract with the Steelers in 2016.
Unfortunately, the Steelers elected to cut him loose. He signed on with the Chiefs as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2017, Golden appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 19 tackles, one interception and a five pass defenses.
