Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Chiefs S Eric Berry hasย continued to make strides from his heel injury and could return to the team for Week 13 game.
Berry won’t suit up for Monday’s game against the Rams, as he’s yet to practice, but La Canfora says Berry should be able to return to the practice field following their bye, which gives him as a shot at playing in Week 13 or Week 14’s game.
There’s no question the Chiefs could use some secondary help and getting Berry back along with OLB Justin Houston should be a huge boost for a struggling defensive unit.
Berry is working his way back from an Achilles tear and has been dealing with Haglundโs deformity, which is a bone spur that digs into the Achilles.
Berry, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2010. He worked his way back fromย Hodgkin’s lymphoma and managed to produce an impressive 2015 season.
Berry played out his rookie contract with the team before receiving the team’s franchise tag last year. However, the two parties ultimately agreed to a newย six-year, $78 million contractย that includes $29.8 million guaranteed.
Berry stands to make base salaries ofย $12.4 million and $9.4 million over the next two years.
In 2017, Berry appeared in one game and recorded seven tackles for the Chiefs.
We’ll have more regarding Berry as the news is available.
