The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have signed first-round pick OLB Dee Ford to a four-year contract with a fifth-year club option.
Ford, formerly of Auburn University, did not have much significant playing time before 2013 in which he posted 10.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss. Earlier today general manager John Dorsey mentioned that he envisions Ford as a rotation player in the Chiefs lineup, spelling OLB Justin Houston or Tamba Hali.
Ford could be in for an expanded role moving beyond 2014 since Houston is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.ย Should the Chiefs allow for Houston to test the market, Ford could be pushed into a starting role.
