Mahomes, 21, was taken with the No. 10 overall pick by the Chiefs after they somewhat surprisingly tradedย upย toย get him inย round one. Inย total, theย Chiefsย gave up first and third-round picks inย 2017 toย go along with another first-round pick in 2018 forย Mahomes.

Mahomes is clearly the Chiefs’ quarterback of the future, butย it’s likely thatย he’ll sit behindย Alexย Smithย in 2017.

Some felt Mahomes was the best quarterback prospect in this year’s classย and evenย compared him toย Brett Favre for hisย bigย arm andย gunslinger mentality.

According to OverTheCap.com, Mahomes will receiveย a four-year contract worth $16,425,962, which includes a signing bonus of $10,086,1526. The contract also has a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020.

During his college career, Mahomes threw for 11,252 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 93 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He also rushed for 845 yards and 22 touchdowns at Texas Tech.
