Chiefs Willing To Listen To Offers For The No. 1 Overall Pick

Chiefs new head coach Andy Reid mentioned on Thursday they are willing to listen to offers for the No. 1 overall pick, but they would have to be “overwhelmed” to consider trading back.

“Listen, yeah, we’re going to evaluate everything,” Reid said, via NFL.com. “We’re just not going to give it away. So we’d have to see what people throw our way. It’s a pretty valuable pick, I’d say.”

With no obvious quarterback to take in this year’s draft, it makes sense that Reid and the Chiefs would consider all available options. He did mention that he was excited to meet West Virginia QB Geno Smith, who many have as the No. 1 quarterback in this year’s draft class.

“Most of the questions have been asked about the quarterback position, but it’s important that we go through and evaluate everybody,” Reid said. “You don’t go for need, you go for who the best player is — or who you perceive the best player to be.”

It will be interesting to see how much interest there is in the first overall selection by the time the draft rolls around.
