Colt McCoy Underwent Another Surgery On His Leg, Should Ready For Offseason Workouts

Tarik El-Bashir reports that Redskins QB Colt McCoy, who was seen on crutches Sunday, underwent another surgery on his right leg that was broken back in December.

According to El-Bashir, McCoy’s follow up surgery was more of the โ€œpreventative maintenanceโ€ sort and he’s expected to be ready for the start of the offseason program.

McCoy will be competing with Case Keenum for the starting job this summer and possibly with a draft pick, depending on what Washington elects to due next month.

McCoy, 32, is a former third-round pick out of Texas by the Browns back in 2010. He was traded from Cleveland to the 49ers back in 2013 and later signed on with Washington as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.

McCoy stands to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, McCoy appeared in three games for the Redskins and completed 63 percent of his passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
