Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel spoke with one agent at the Scouting Combine who mentioned that the Colts appear to be “very interested” interested in Packers free agent OLB Nick Perry.
According to Silverstein, even though Green Bay would like to re-sign Perry and have $40 million or so to work with this offseason, the level of interest in Perry could push them out of the running for him.
Silverstein mentions that the starting price for Perry is likely around $8 million per year, but the cost could easily reach $11 million per year as more teams get aggressive to find pass-rush help.
Perry, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before testing the open market for the first time this year and eventually returning to the Packers on a one-year, $4 million contract.
It’s worth mentioning that the Packers elected to not pick up Perry’s fifth-year option last May, which is why he’ll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2016,ย Perry has appeared in 12 games for the Packers and recorded 48 tackles, eight sacks, one interception, and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
We have him featured in ourย Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
