Colts Firing OL Coach Dave DeGuglielmo

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Colts are firing OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo on Tuesday, despite the fact that the team’s unit made huge strides in 2018.

Garafolo says that Colts HC Frank Reich wants his own guy coaching their offensive line, as DeGuglielmo was the only offensive coach Josh McDaniels hired before backing out of his agreement with the Colts.

Reich is reportedly recommending DeGuglielmo to other interested teams.

DeGuglielmo, 50, began his coaching career at Boston College as a graduate assistant back in 1991. He worked for a few schools before the Giants hired him as their assistant OL coach in 2004.

From there, DeGuglielmo had stints with the Dolphins, Jets, Patriots and Chargers before joining the Colts last year.

  1. Hey GMEN! Bring BIG DeeGee back home. He worked magic with two rookies Nelson and Smith, not to forget 3rd year center Kelly. RB Mack ran for nearly 1,000 yards in about 12 games. And not to forget the most important stat of all, Luck was sacked only 18 TIMES. I don’t get this move at all by the Colts. They have a franchise QB in Luck who just came back after 2 years on IR and was barely touched all season, thanks in large part to BIG DeeGee’s line schemes. And Reich FIRES him and then has the nerve to recommend him to potential suitors. Who cares that McDaniels hired him, that was basically a gift for Luck. This is one bonehead move by Reich and Co.
Ask Luck how he felt game-in and game-out when he had current GMEN pure GARBAGE OC Hal Hunter in Indy. Remember! Elisha Manning is a “stick in the mud” every snap in game. BIG DeeGee could probably keep the sacks at around 25 for the year with Lead Feet Manning at QB. And if Mack put up those numbers, just imagine the numbers The Anointed One would pile up!
Wake up Gettleman! At least make one justifiable acquisition this offseason.
