Colts C Ryan Kelly said on Wednesday his agent has had some discussions with the team about a potential extension, per Joel Erickson.
He added he doesn’t know if the two sides have gotten to the point where specific numbers have been discussed as he prepares for the final year of his rookie contract.
“I want to spend my entire career in Indianapolis,” Kelly said.
Kelly is a key member of a strong Colts offensive line and should be one of the team’s top priorities for a new deal, potentially before the start of the 2020 season.
Kelly, 26, is a former first-round pick by the Colts back in 2016 out of Alabama. He played out the fourth year of his four-year, $10.45 million rookie contract and made a base salary of $1.4 million for the 2019 season.
Kelly is set to make a base salary of $10.35 million for 2020 season after Indianapolis exercised his fifth-year option.
In 2019, Kelly started all 16 games for the Colts at center. ProFootballFocus rated him as the No. 8 overall center out of 38 qualifying players.
We’ll have more on Kelly’s negotiations with the Colts as the news is available.
