Colts Interested In Signing QB Byron Leftwich

The Indianapolis Colts are apparently interested in signing free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich, writes Mark Kaboly of the Pittsbugh Tribune-Review.

Leftwich was most recently the backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Bruce Arians was offensive coordinator up until the end of last season before taking the same position with the Colts. According to the article, Arians wants Leftwich to help teach their new quarterback, which will inevitably be Andrew Luck, ย the offensive scheme that Arians is bringing with him from his tenure in Pittsburgh.

Leftwich, who has also had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wants to remain with the Steelers, but they have salary cap issues so that scenario looks unlikely.

Forgive Drew Stanton for getting a feeling of dรฉjร  vu.

  1. Man, Drew Stanton is getting no love this offseason. This is the second time he’s gone to a team and then they start eyeing somebody more experienced. I think Drew is a solid #2 option and should be getting a little more respect. That said, I understand bringing in someone who knows the offense already.ย

    • Gavin I feel the same way. Stanton is good enough to be a backup but adding an experienced QB that can help seems like a benefit. It makes you wonder why they traded for him in the first place.
