Ian Rapoport of NFL Media mentions that the “most logical” landing spot for veteran QB Philip Rivers appears to be the Indianapolis Colts.
As of now, the Colts haven’t ruled anything out in regards to the quarterback position including adding a free agent to go along with Jacoby Brissett and/or looking to the draft for a long-term prospect.
Others have mentioned that the Colts are a team to watch for Rivers, so this isn’t a big surprise.
According to Rapoport, other potential suitors such as the Titans and Buccaneers appear to be planning to move forward with Ryan Tannehill and Jameis Winston respectively as their quarterbacks.
This comes after the news that the Chargers and Rivers mutually agreed to part ways on Monday.
Rivers permanently moved his family from San Diego to Florida this year.
Rivers, 38, is a former first-round pick of the Giants back in 2004. He was later traded to the Chargers in return for Eli Manning.
Rivers just finished the final year of his five-year, $99 million contract that includes $65 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $11 million for the 2019 season. He will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2019, Rivers appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,615 yards, 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
