The Indianapolis Colts officially placed first-round S Malik Hooker (knee) on Injured Reserve Tuesday.
- The Colts also signed WR K.J. Brent and S Ronald Martin to their practice squad and released RB Marcus Murphy from the unit.
The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:
- QB Phillip Walker
- NT Joey Mbu
- OT Tyreek Burwell
- LB Joshua Perry
- G Ian Silberman
- WR Matt Hazel
- DB Channing Stribling
- TE Mo Alie-Cox
- WR K.J. Brent
- S Ronald Martin
Hooker, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday’s game, so this move was expected.
Hooker, 21, was selected with the No. 15 overall pick in this year’s draft by the Colts. He signed a four-year, $12.6 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and he stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $1.03 million over the first two years of the agreement.
Entering today’s game, Hooker had appeared in six games and recorded 20 tackles, three interceptions and four pass defenses for the Colts. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 safety out of 81 qualifying players.
