Colts Promote S Dewey McDonald, Cut ILB Amarlo Herrera & CB Shaun Prater

The Indianapolis Colts promoted S Dewey McDonald to their active roster on Tuesday and waived ILB Amarlo Herrera and CB Shaun Prater.

  • The Colts also released QB Alex Tanney from their practice squad.

McDonald, 25, signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in May of last year. Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s practice squad .

Last year, McDonald appeared in three postseason games for the Colts and registered three special teams tackles.

Prater, 25, was a fifth-round pick by the Bengals in 2012, but landed on the injured-reserve with a knee injury and was waived the following offseason. He later caught on with the Eagles before joining the Vikings for the past two seasons.

The Colts re-signed him to a contract a few weeks ago.

This season, Prater has been active for one game, but has yet to record a single statistic.
