Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Colts S Malik Hooker did, in fact, suffer a torn Achilles during Sunday’s game against the Vikings and is out for the season.
You can expect the Colts to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.
Hooker’s future in Indianapolis is in question after the team declined his option and reportedly discussed potential trades for him this offseason.
Hooker, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Colts back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $12.6 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $2.18 million in 2020.
The Colts declined Hooker’s fifth-year option for the 2021 season, which means he’ll be an unrestricted free agent next year.
In 2020, Hooker appeared in two games and recorded seven tackles and no interceptions.
