The Indianapolis Colts announced Friday that they’ve re-signed LBย Darnell Sankey to their practice squad and released RBย Troymaine Pope from the unit.
The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:
- QB Phillip Walker
- NT Joey Mbu
- OT Tyreek Burwell (Exception)
- WR Devin Lucien (Injured)
- WR Cyril Grayson
- LB Joshua Perry
- TE Marcus Lucas
- G Ian Silberman
- WR Matt Hazel
- DB Channing Stribling
- LB Darnell Sankey
Sankey, 22, originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State. Unfortunately, Denver chose to waive him as they trimmed down to 75 players.
The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad a few weeks into the regular season before cutting him loose in October of last year. He signed to the Chiefs practice squad but was released after a month with the team.
The Vikings signed him to a contract in August but elected to cut him loose after a few weeks.ย Sankey later signed on with the Colts and has been on and off of their roster this year.
During his four-year college career, Sankey recorded 330 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two recoveries an interception and nine pass defenses.ย Sankey earned FCS All-America honors during his senior season atย Sacramento State.
