According to Mike Chappell, the Colts are signing WR DeAndre Smelter to a reserve/futures contract on Wednesday.
As of now, the Colts have signed 10 players to futures deals including:
- TE Mo Alie-Cox
- WR Dres Anderson
- DT Johnathan Calvin
- WR Kolby Listenbee
- OLB Arthur Miley
- OLB Josh Perry
- QB Phillip Walker
- G Isaiah Williams
- ILB Darnell Sankey
- WR DeAndre Smelter
Indianapolis brought him in for a workout earlier this week, so they were clearly impressed enough to sign him.
Smelter, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.28 million rookie contract when the 49ers waived him at the start of the 2016 season.
Smelter later signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad and has been on and off of the unit ever since.
In 2016, Smelter appeared in two games for the 49ers and caught one passes for 23 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
