Field Yates of ESPN reports that Colts brought in veteran WR Dontrelle Inman for a tryout on Monday.
The Colts could really use some receiver help with T.Y. Hilton injured and Devin Funchess and Chester Rogers out for the season. Inman is obviously familiar with the Colts and is among the best available players right now.
Inman, 30, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in 2011. Jacksonville decided to waive soon after and he later joined the Chargers in 2014.
The Chargers re-signed Inman to a one-year restricted deal worth $2.746 million for the 2017 season before trading him to the Bears for a conditional seventh-round pick. He had brief stints with the Colts and Patriots before returning to the Chargers in August.
Los Angeles waived him from injured reserve a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Inman has appeared in four games for the Chargers and caught eight passes for 132 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
