Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Colts are hosting free agent RB Mike Gillislee for a workout on Friday.
Eric Edholm adds that the Colts also worked out RB Akeem Hunt Friday.
This is the second workout for Gillislee this week after he met with the Raiders. Before that, he worked out for the Lions back in February and the Jaguars this past May.
Gillislee, 28, was a fifth-round pick of the Dolphins in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent just over two years in Miami before he was among their roster cuts at the start of the 2015 regular season.
After a brief stint with the Cardinals, the Bills signed him to their practice squad during the 2015 season and brought him back on a one-year deal. Buffalo later lost Gillislee when they declined to match the Patriots’ two-year, $6.4 million restricted offer sheet.
Gillislee was set to make a base salary of $1.9 million for the 2018 season when the Patriots released him last year and he eventually signed on with the Saints. Unfortunately, New Orleans waived him in October.
In 2018, Gillislee appeared in four games and rushed for 43 yards on 16 carries (2.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for nine yards and no touchdowns.
Hunt, 26, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in 2015. He lasted just a few months in New York before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season.
Hunt had brief stints with the Ravens and Texans before the Chiefs signed him to a contract in 2017. Kansas City elected to cut him loose last year.
For his career, Hunt has appeared in 30 games for the Texans and Chiefs and rushed for 228 yards on 45 carrie (5.1 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 99 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
