Cowboys Are Not Retaining Secondary Coach Kris Richard

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that new Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy will not retain defensive passing game coordinator/secondary coach Kris Richard as part of his coaching staff.

McCarthy is expected to hire Texas A&M’s cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist to coach their secondary under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan

The Giants actually interviewed Richard for their head-coaching job before hiring Joe Judge last week.

Richard, 40, began his coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2008 as a graduate assistant. He worked his way up to defensive in 2015 and spent the three seasons in charge of the Seahawks’ defense before parting ways in 2017.

The Cowboys later hired Richard as their defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator. Richard’s contract with the Cowboys is set to expire.
