Cowboys Placed TE Geoff Swaim On IR, Promoting RB Darius Jackson

Update:

According to Todd Archer, the Cowboys have placed TE Geoff Swaim on injured reserve and promoted RB Darius Jackson to their active roster.

David Moore is reporting that the Cowboys are currently discussing the possibility of placing TE Geoff Swaim on injured reserve and promoting RB Darius Jackson to their active roster.

If the Cowboys are to make these roster moves, Moore says the team will likely do so on Saturday.

Swaim, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,334,732 contract and will make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

Swaim is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Swaim has appeared in nine games for the Cowboys and caught 26 passes for 242 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Jackson, 24, was selected in the sixth round of last year’s draft by the Cowboys. Dallas waived Jackson towards the end of the 2016 season and was later claimed off waivers by the Browns.

The Cowboys signed Jackson to a contract in May, but elected to cut him loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players. Jackson was signed off of the Cowboys’ practice squad by the Packers, but he lasted just a few weeks in Green Bay before returning to Dallas.

In 2018, Jackson has appeared in two games for the Packers, but has yet to receive a carry.
