According to Jane Slater, Charlton also requested a trade earlier this offseason in private. Following rumors of being on the block this weekend, Charlton has made his trade request public.
“Trust me the last thing I want to do is to have to go to social media to get what I want so I can play football again,” Charlton added.
Charlton has been a healthy inactive for Dallas’ first two games.
Charlton, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2017. He’s entering the third year of his four-year, $10.02 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1.37 million and $1.83 million over the final two years of the agreement.
The Cowboys will have a fifth-year option to pick up on Charlton in 2020.
In 2018, Charlton appeared in 11 games for the Cowboys and recorded 27 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
