The Dallas Cowboys announced that they’re hiring Jim Tomsula as their new defensive line coach under Mike McCarthy.
Recent reports had said that Tomsula was likely to be hired along with John Fassel, who will serve as the Cowboys’ special teams coordinator, so this isn’t a big surprise.
Tomsula, 51, began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers as their defensive line coach back in 2007. He stayed in this position for several years before he took over for Jim Harbaugh after he was fired in 2015.
The Redskins hired Tomsula as their DL coach in 2017.
Tomsula’s record with the 49ers is 6-11 (35.3 percent), which includes one game he filled in as the team’s interim head coach during the 2010 season.
