Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer Wonโ€™t Be Extended

Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.Com is reporting that franchised LB Anthony Spencer isnโ€™t likely to be extended before the July 16 deadline.

โ€œThe word at Valley Ranch is that the team intends to let the 28-year-old will play out this year with a guaranteed salary of $8.8 million.

Spencer signed his tender on April 23, with the hope that a long-term deal could be reached before the season, but there have been no talks between the two sides recently. He participated fully in the teamโ€™s offseason program.โ€

Spencer has played opposite DeMarcus Ware for three seasons, and his production has been inconsistent. The Cowboys reportedly would like to see more stability in Spencerโ€™s play before committing to him long-term.
