Cowboys Promote QB Kellen Moore To Active Roster

The Dallas Cowboys announced Wednesday that they’ve promotedย QB Kellen Moore to their active roster, per Jon Machota.

Moore, 26, wound up signing on with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State back in 2012. He spent over three years in Detroit before he was among their final roster cuts a few weeks back.

The Cowboys later signed him to their practice squad before promoting him to their active roster shortly after Tony Romo when down with a collarbone injury. Moore was later returned to their practice squad after they activated Romo.

Moore has yet to appear in an NFL game.

  1. I hope K Moore gets a chance to play in 2015 and/or a chance to compete for the 2nd team QB position in 2016. He is a master at pocket passing but has physical limitations that the experts feel will keep him from playing in the NFL. He was not drafted for this reason and passed up by 32 teams. He has already proved he should have been drafted by his body of work in the NFL including good to outstanding performance in preseason games but mostly at 3rd team. The real question which hasn’t been answered yet is, ” Will his outstanding skills (i.e. accuracy, anticipation, good decision making, minimizing sacks/interceptions, consistency, poise, quick release, vision down field, ability to find the open receiver, pocket presence, toughness and instinctive play) allow him to overcome or compensate for his weaknesses (i.e. small size, lack of athleticism and lack of a strong arm) to be able to play in the NFL either as a top backup or starter. He needs to keep developing/improving and try to improve his arm strength some. (i.e. velocity).
