Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has praised Dez Bryant for his conditioning, maturity, and professionalism this week, according to Jon Machotaย of theย Dallas Morning News.
“I know one thing,” said Jones. “He certainly is different as far as his maturity and as far as his understanding of what it takes to play in the National Football League than when he got here.”
Cowboys VP Stephen Jones added that he expects to see Bryant to emerge as the team’s No. 1 receiver this season.
“I think (Bryant) needs to be a No. 1 receiver,” Jones said, via DallasCowboys.com. “Not to take anything away from Miles [Austin], but I would submit to you that when we line up out there that the guy that they’re most worried about is Dez.”
Bryant is coming off of a season that didn’t live up to expectations, but he’s certainly a very talented player that should really be force for the Cowboys offense, assuming that he takes the next step.
Jon Machotaย of theย Dallas Morning Newsย notes that CB Brandon Carr has “undoubtedly” been the Cowboys best defensive back during spring practices.
Carr received a huge contract from Dallas, so they should at least feel good that they’re investment went towards a talented player that fits one of their biggest areas of need. It’s worth noting thatย first-round pick Morris Claiborne has yet to take the field because of the fact that he’s recovering from a wrist surgery that he underwent a few months ago.
