According to Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys have signed RB Trey Williams to their practice squad on Thursday. Dallas also released DL Stansly Maponga, according to Brandon George.
The Cowboys’ practice squad now consists of:
- G Kadeem Edwards
- WR Lance Lenior
- DT Lewis Neal
- CB Marquez White
- WR Brian Brown
- DB Jameill Showers
- OT Jarron Jones
- LB Tre’von Johnson
- QB Kellen Moore
- RB Trey Williams
Williams, 24, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in 2015. He’s played for a number of teams including the Cowboys, Patriots, Dolphins, and Colts before joining the Steelers this past February on a future/reserve contract.
Unfortunately, the Steelers waived Williams coming out of the preseason.
In 2015, Williams appeared in two games and rushed for 12 yards on two carries.
Maponga, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2013. He spent over two years in Atlanta before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to their practice squad.
The Giants would later add him to their active roster toward the end of the 2016 season and he returned to the team this past January on a future/reserve contract. Unfortunately, Maponga was among the Giants’ final roster cuts a few months ago.
The Cowboys signedย Maponga to their practice squad last week.
In 2016, Maponga appeared in two games for the Giants but did not record a statistic.
