Cowboys Still “Monitoring” Free Agent Safeties Including Eric Berry

Cowboys VP of player personnel Will McClay said Monday that they are still monitoring the available free-agent safeties, including Eric Berry

However, McClary reiterated that they’re happy with the players on the roster.

โ€œWe really believe in Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath and the depth that we have,โ€ McClay said, Jon Machota.

There hasn’t been any reported interest in Berry since March when Browns GM John Dorsey told reporters that he had been in contact with Berry and Tre Boston.

Berry, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2010. He worked his way back from Hodgkin’s lymphoma and managed to produce an impressive 2015 season.

Berry played out his rookie contract with the team before receiving the team’s franchise tag last year. However, the two parties ultimately agreed to a new six-year, $78 million contract that includes $29.8 million guaranteed.

Berry was set to make base salaries of $12.4 million and $9.4 million over the next two years when the Chiefs released him with a post-June 1 designation.

In 2018, Berry appeared in two games and recorded 11 tackles and no interceptions for the Chiefs.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
