DeSean Jackson Says He Would Like To Re-Sign With Redskins

On Thursday, Redskins impending free agentย DeSean Jackson mentioned that he wants to be back in Washington next year, but he understands that the business side of things could ultimately impact where he’s playing football in 2017.

I do want to still be here,” Jackson said Thursday, via Redskins.com. “My family and my house, I have everything here and I don’t want to be in a transaction and move. First things first, I do want to be here and hopefully we can make it work. But once again this is a business so things happen. I’m just really excited about the opportunity I have to sit and now the ball’s in my corner a little bit and see what we can do. I’m just excited and I’m going to let my agent care of all that. Ready to just sit back and whatever offers come in but obviously, like I said, I do want to be here.”

The Redskins reportedly have yet opened contract talks with Jackson and his representatives but that could change as we draw closer to the start of free agency.

Jason La Canforaย reported yesterday that there is a “legitimate chance”ย Jackson ends up signing with a team other than the Eagles, as thereย is expected toย be a “good number” of suitors for his services in free agency.

La Canfora admits that Jackson returning to the Eagles is still a possibility that “makes sense on a lot of levels.” Interestingly enough, sources who La Canfora has spoken to in recent months made it seem like Jackson returning to Philadelphia was likely a near certainty, but the limited free agent pool of receivers could lead to other teams getting involved.

Some teams to watch for Jackson, according to La Canfora, could include the Buccaneers, Titans and possibly the Ravens.

Jackson, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He spent six years with the Eagles before signing aย three-year, $24 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed with the Redskins back in 2014.

In 2016, Jackson appeared in 14 games for the Redskins and caught 56 passes for 1005 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
