Dolphins Hire Bengals DBs Coach As Defensive Coordinator

Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins have hired former Bengals DBs coach Vance Joseph as their new defensive coordinator.

  • The Dolphins also hired Matt Burke (LBs), Shane Day (TEs) Chris Foerster (OL), and Shawn Jefferson (WRs).
  • The Dolphins also announced that Eric Stokes, their assistant GM last year, is now the teamโ€™s senior personnel executive.

Numerous reports had said previously that the Dolphins were likely to hire Joseph to run their defense now that theyโ€™ve brought in Adam Gase to be their next head coach.

Joseph was a hot candidate for defensive coordinator positions last year, but the Bengals ultimately elected to prevent him from taking any of the available jobs. However, Josephโ€™s contract now expires after the season, which means Cincinnati could no longer prevent him from leaving for a better position.

It will be interesting to see what Joseph is able to do with the Dolphinsโ€™ defense, which largely under performed in 2016.
