Jordan Schultz reports that the Dolphins areย officially releasing TE Julius Thomas on Wednesday, as expected.
Thomas, 29, is a former fourth-round pick by the Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft. He is in the third year of his five-year, $46 million contract that included $24 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary ofย $6.5 million for the 2018 season.
The Jaguars elected to trade Thomas to the Dolphins in return for aย 2017 seventh-round pick.
In 2017, Thomas appeared inย 14 games for the Dolphins and caught 41 passes for 388 yards receiving and three touchdowns. ProFootballFocusย has him rated as the No. 50 overall tight end out of 71 qualifying players.
