Armando Salguero reports that the Miami Dolphins are placing rookie RB Jay Ajayi on injured reserve with the destination to return.
This move will cost Ajayi the first eight games of the regular season.
Ajayi, 22, was taken in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he sustained a cracked rib in Thursday night’s preseason finale.
He rookie contract is a four-year, $2.5 million agreement that deal included a $220,812 signing bonus. Ajayi will make a base salary of $435,000 for the 2015 season.
