Aaron Wilson reports that the Dolphins are promoting S Maurice Smith to their active roster on Monday.
Smith, 23, wound up signing on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in May of last year. He managed to make the Dolphins’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but was among the team’s final roster cuts a few weeks ago.
The Dolphins later signed Smith to their practice squad after he cleared waivers.
In 2017, Smith appeared in six games for the Dolphins and recorded one tackle, no interceptions and a pass defense.
