Dolphins WR DeVante Parker On Trade Rumors: ‘I Want To Be Here. But It’s Business’

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker, who has been the subject of trade rumors the past few months, says he would prefer to remain in Miami long term.

Yeah, I would love to be here long-term,” Parker said, via the Palm Beach Post. “I get along with everybody here. Front office. All of them. Cool people. I wouldn’t mind being here for long-term.

Parker was then asked if he’d prefer not to be traded.

“Yeah. I prefer not to be,” Parker said. “I want to be here. But it’s business. So whatever happens, happens. You can’t control some things.”

Parker has been sidelined with a quad injury and it remains to be seen when he’ll return to game action.

That DeVante Parker is still determined to play on the field, to do his role and do his job,” Parker said. “Whatever that is. Just help the team win.”

A few weeks ago, Michael Lombardi of The Athletic reported that the Dolphins have spoken to several teams about trading Parker and have grown frustrated with the former first-round pick.

The Dolphins refuted that Parker is available for trade, but they said the same thing about Jarvis Landry, who was eventually sent to the Browns.

Parker, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Louisville by the Dolphins in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of a four-year $ 10.876 million rookie contract and is set to earn a base salary of $1,918,164 in 2018.

The Dolphins picked up Parker’s fifth-year option this offseason that will cost them $9,387,000 for the 2019 season. It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury.

In 2018, Parker has been limited to appearing in just one game and catching two passes for 40 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding a potential trade involving Parker as the news is available.
