Donald Penn Meeting With Redskins About Possible Deal

Ian Rapoport reports that free agent LT Donald Penn is heading to meet with the Redskins about a potential deal.

Redskins LT Trent Williams is currently holding out of training camp over issues with the team’s medical staff and there’s no timetable for him to report to the team.

As of now, Washington has been using Ereck Flowers at left tackle, so they have a big need at an important position and Penn is among the best available options.

Penn, 36, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State back in 2006. After a few months in Minnesota, Penn signed on with the Buccaneers during his rookie season and spent eight years in Tampa Bay before he was released back in 2014.

The Raiders signed Penn to a contract soon after before bringing him back on a $21M extension in 2017 but was released during the offseason.

In 2018, Penn appeared in four games for the Raiders.

We have him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
