The Philadelphia Eagles officially placed WR Charles Johnson on injured reserve Wednesday and signed OT Riley Mayfield to their active roster.
Johnson, 30, originally signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Grand Valley State back in 2013. He had a brief stint with the Browns before the Vikings signed him off of their practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.
The Panthers signed Johnson to a one-year, $2.2 million contract in 2017 but he was placed on injured reserve in July and eventually cut loose in February.
Johnson caught on with the AAF’s Orlando Apollos and led the league in receiving in its first and only season. The Eagles signed him to a contract this past April.
In his last NFL action in 2016, Johnson appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 20 passes for 232 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Mayfield, 6-7 and 302 pounds, signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas following the 2019 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Buccaneers at the end of July.
