Yates notes Philadelphia converted $7.165 million of Cox’s base salary into a signing bonus.

While it creates more spending flexibility this year, it’s also money that can be rolled over to 2021 where the Eagles are currently facing a massive negative cap number.

Cox, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He’s currently in the fifth year of his seven-year, $110.79 million contract that includes $63 million guaranteed.

Cox stands to make base salaries of $15 million and $16.1 million over the final two years of his contract.

In 2020, Cox has appeared in six games for the Eagles and recorded 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 interior defender out of 118 qualifying players.
