The Eagles announced Wednesday they’ve signed S Trae Elston and waived LB B.J. Bello in a corresponding move.
Elston, 25, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss back in May of 2016. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason but later signed on to the Buccaneers’ practice squad.
The Buccaneers would cut him loose a month later and he eventually caught on with the Browns towards the end of the year. Cleveland brought Elston back on a future/reserve contract in 2017 but he was waived shortly before the draft and claimed off of waivers by the Bills.
Buffalo cut him loose early in the season and he was claimed off waivers by the Eagles. Unfortunately, he lasted just a week in Philadelphia before he was waived.
The Bills signed him to a contract again, then cut him near the end of 2017. He was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins, who ended up releasing him during final roster cuts before the 2018 season.
In 2017, Elston played in 14 games, one for the Eagles, 13 for the Bills, and recorded 17 total tackles, one interception and one pass defense.
