The Atlanta Falcons announced Tuesday that they’ve placed DE Takk McKinley on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and promoted DE Austin Larkin to their active roster.
McKinley, 24, was selected with the No. 26 overall pick by the Falcons out of UCLA in the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s in the third year of his four-year rookie contract worth $10,216,792, which included a signing bonus of $5,570,392.
In 2019, McKinley appeared in 14 games for the Falcons and recorded 29 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 overall edge rusher out of 113 qualifying players.
Larkin, 24, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in 2018. He lasted just a few months in Dallas before being waived coming out of the preseason.
The Falcons later signed Larkin to a contract this past May and eventually added him to their practice squad. Since then, he’s been on and off of the unit.
In 2019, Larkin has appeared in one game for the Falcons, but has yet to record a statistic.
During his college career at Purdue, Larkin appeared in 18 games and recorded 42 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble over the course of two seasons.
