Falcons Placing RB Ito Smith On IR With Knee Injury

Falcons HC Dan Quinn announced Monday that rookie RB Ito Smith will be placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, per Vaughn McClure.

According to Quinn, Smith will undergo knee surgery this week, per McClure.

Smith, 23, was selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft by the Falcons. He agreed to a four-year, $3,080,872 contract with the Falcons that included a $620,872 signing bonus.

Smith will make base salaries of $570,000 and $660,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Smith appeared in 14 games for the Falcons and rushed for 315 yards on 90 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions and 152 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
