The Atlanta Falcons are promoting TE D.J. Tialavea from their practice squad to their active roster, according to Vaughn McClure.
Tialavea, 25, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State back in 2014. He failed to make the team’s active roster coming out of the preseason and was eventually added to their practice squad after clearing waivers. However, Buffalo decided to waive him to make room for TE Jamie Childers.
Atlanta signed Tialavea in August of last year but waived him with an injury settlement after placing him on injured reserve. The Falcons added him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers and he was eventually promoted to their active roster for the remainder of the season.
He became one of the Falcons final roster cuts as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit coming out of the preseason and re-signed to their practice squad when clearing waivers once again.
He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
