The Atlanta Falcons announced that they have released OL John Wetzel from their active roster and promoted P Kasey Redfern from their practice squad.
Wetzel, 27, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Oakland before catching on with the Cowboys mid-season.
Wetzel went on to spend a few years in Dallas before a brief stint with the Colts. He signed on to the Cardinals’ practice squad during the 2015 season and returned to Arizona on a future/reserve contract.
The Cardinals re-signed Wetzel as an exclusive rights free agent for both the 2017 and 2018 season.
The Falcons signed him as a free agent to a one-year deal back in April but cut him loose coming out of the preseason and re-signed him a week later.
In 2018, Wetzel played in eight games for the Cardinals, starting five.
