The Atlanta Falcons released P Ryan Allen on Friday, according to Aaron Wilson.
The Falcons signed Allen to a one-year deal back in February. However, Tom Pelissero explains that this was just a procedural move and Atlanta is expected to re-sign Allen in the near future.
Allen, 29, wound up signing on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech back in 2013. Allen had one year remaining on his rookie contract when he and the Patriots agreed to a new three-year extension back in 2015.
Allen re-signed with the Patriots back in March only for the team to cut him loose during the preseason. The Falcons signed him to a contract a few months later and he was on off of their roster throughout the season.
In 2019, Allen appeared in eight games for the Falcons and totaled 1172 yards on 28 attempts (41.9 YPA), which includes 14 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
