Thankful to have been a part of the Atlanta Falcons for the last four years- it has been an incredible journey and I’m so grateful to the city of Atlanta, the Falcons organization, my teammates, and all who have supported me along the way. I walk away with lifelong friendships and memories I will cherish forever. I’m not done yet, and can’t wait to see what’s next!
Reed, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with Houston before agreeing to a five-year, $22.5 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed back in 2015.
Reed was set to make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2019 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Reed will free up $4.5 million of available cap space while creating $940,000 in dead money.
In 2018, Reed appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 23 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.
