The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday that they’ve signed LB Chase Middleton and waived DB Hamp Cheevers.
Middleton, 22, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia State back in May. He agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract but was waived a few days later.
During his college career at Georgia State, Middleton recorded 190 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses.
Cheevers wound up going undrafted out of Boston College back in May. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Titans, but was waived with a with an injury designation soon after.
Cheevers reverted to the Titans’ injured reserve list before eventually being waived with a settlement. The Falcons signed him to a contract last week.
During his college career at Boston College, Cheevers recorded 55 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, nine interceptions, one defensive touchdown, two forced fumbles, a recovery and 10 pass defenses over the course of two years and 17 games.
