Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Falcons are signing K Elliott Fry to their practice squad on Thursday.
The Falcons have confirmed the news and announced the release of P Cameron Nizialek from the unit.
Fry worked out for the team earlier in the week and as long as all goes well in practice, he figures to be added to the Falcons’ active roster for Monday’s game against the Packers, given that Younghoe Koo is dealing with a groin strain.
Hereโs the Falcons updated practice squad:
- DB Delrick Abrams
- QB Kurt Benkert
- DB Jamal Carter
- WR Juwan Green
- G Sean Harlow
- TE Jared Pinkney
- LB Edmond Robinson
- WR Chris Rowland
- OL Willie Wright
- WR Laquon Treadwell
- DT Chris Slayton
- G Willie Beavers
- DB Tyler Hall
- DE Austin Edwards
- DB T.J. Green
- K Elliott Fry
Fry, 24, wound up going undrafted out of South Carolina back in 2017. Fry joined the Orlando Apollos of the now-defunct AAF this past spring and converted all 14 field goals he attempted with a long of 44 yards.
The Bears signed him to a contract this offseason before cutting him loose during the preseason. He had a brief stint with the Ravens before signing a futures contract with the Panthers this past January.
Fry later waived and claimed by the Buccaneers, but was waived at the start of the regular season.
During his four-year college career, Fry converted 66 of 88 field goal attempts (75 percent) to go along with 161 of 162 extra point tries (99.4 percent) over the course of 51 games.
